FAQ
If you have a question, please read through our frequently asked questions below. You just might find the answers you’re looking for. If you still have questions, please send screenshots and a detailed explanation of the issue to gala@aigakc.org.

A19 Eligibility
Q. What work is eligible to submit this year?
A. All entries must have been published/produced after January 2023. The same project cannot be entered into the awards two years in a row unless it has undergone significant content and design changes.

Digital Image Submission for Entries with Multiple Components
Q. I was online trying to fill out the entry and when I got to the file upload it only allows one file to be uploaded but with up to 5 images allowed for a series I couldn’t figure out a way to upload more than one file/image. What should I do?
A. Although up to five physical pieces can be submitted under one entry, for simplicity only one digital image file for the online submission can be submitted. Entrants are encouraged to have that one image to be a part of a group photo or collage/matrix of images showcasing the multiple parts and pieces.

Registration
Q. I am unable to login using my credentials from previous years. Why?
A. We have completely rebuilt the entry and registration system for stability and ease of use. As a result, all old registered accounts have been eliminated.

AIGA Member Login
Q. I am trying to login using my AIGA.org credentials and it is not letting me in.
A. You may need to create an account or reset password. We recently migrated systems. If you haven't logged in since January 1, 2022, you will need to reset your password. (Note: The system may reject you from creating a new account because your email might already be in the system.)

Don’t remember if you are a member of AIGA? Please search here. (Note: names of members in good standing will only appear if they have selected the directory option).

If you are still unable to find your member ID, contact AIGA KC at operations@kansascity.aiga.org.

Nonmember Pricing
Q. I am an AIGA member in the process of submitting an entry and am getting the nonmember price.
A. Please make sure you have entered your AIGA member ID and indicated AIGA member where prompted. If you don’t know your AIGA member number, please search here. If you are still unable to find your member ID, contact AIGA KC at operations@kansascity.aiga.org.

Member Pricing in Cart
Q. I have entered several entries to my cart, but then updated my account with my AIGA member ID but the AIGA member discount isn’t being reflected in the total of my cart, why is that?
A. The price of an entry is determined by the system at the time it’s added to the cart. So the membership status of the account must be accurate prior to entering work into the system.

First, save your work! To update your cart, please log out of the competition system and also log out of my.aiga.org. This will reset your account. Then, login again to refresh your member settings and your cart. If this does not refresh your cart, please contact membership@aiga.org. It is possible that you may have a duplicate account, and we will need to merge them in order for you to continue.

Editing an Entry in Cart
Q. Can I edit the details of an entry after I have already submitted it?
A. Yes. Simply “edit” for that entry in your cart, under My Entries.

Design for Good Category
Q. What is the Design for Good category?
A. Design for Good is an initiative of AIGA that is intended to ignite, accelerate and amplify design-driven social change. Any submission that incorporates a positive social impact on the world, our country, or our community, may be entered into this category. The Design for Good category is open to students and professionals alike. Entering this category does not require the completion of a Case Study, as it has in the past.

Is the competition only for members?

Anyone can enter. First, an AIGA account is required. Creating an AIGA account is free and easy.

  1. Joining AIGA is an option during the two-step process, simply continue when prompted to become a member. Then, log out to reset your cart!
  2. To opt-out of the join process once you've created your account, simply close the tab and return to the competition page to login and continue with the credentials you've just created.

I think I'm a member, but I am getting the nonmember rate.
Please confirm your membership has not recently lapsed. You may be up for renewal and need to reinstate your membership before you begin. Please login to my.aiga.org to confirm your member status. Or search the Member Directory to confirm if a colleague has an active membership (Note: names of members in good standing will only appear if they have selected the directory option). Please contact membership@aiga.org if you have questions about your membership status.

Why am I being charged nonmember fees?
The competition system looks at your member type when you login to determine the correct fees. If you decide to join or renew in mid-cart, you must log out to reset the fees. See below for more information.

The member fee is not showing after I join/renew my membership. How do I update the entry fees in my cart?
First, save your work! To update your cart, please log out of the competition system and also log out of my.aiga.org. This will reset your account. Then, login again to refresh your member settings and your cart. If this does not refresh your cart, please contact membership@aiga.org. It is possible that you may have a duplicate account, and we will need to merge them in order for you to continue.
